2022 Asian Games postponed due to COVID!

 The Asian Olympic Council announced that the 2022 Asian Games, which will host many esports tournaments, have been postponed.



The Asian Olympic Committee announced on its official website yesterday that the 19th Asian Games were postponed to a later date due to COVID. The date of the 2022 Asian Games, which will include many esports tournaments, especially League of Legends and FIFA 2022, will be announced in the coming weeks. Additional details for the Asian Games, originally scheduled for September 10-25 in Hangzhou, China, have yet to be announced.

The joint statement made by OCA, COC (Chinese Olympic Committee) and HAGOC (Asian Games Organizing Committee) is as follows:

“After detailed discussions with the Chinese Olympic Committee (COC) and the Hangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee (HAGOC), the OCA Executive Board (EB) has decided to postpone the 19th Asian Games, scheduled for today in Hangzhou, China. The new dates of the 19th Asian Games, which are originally envisaged to be held between 10-25 September 2022, will be agreed between OCA, COC and HAGOC and will be announced in the near future.

19. The name and emblem of the Asian Games will remain unchanged and OCA believes that the Asian Games can be achieved with the joint effort of all parties.”

The 2022 Asian Games will feature Dota 2, League of Legends, Hearthstone, Arena of Valor, PUBG Mobile, Street Fighter V and Dream Three Kingdom 2 tournaments. For the first time this year, esports events were allowed to be held at the Asian Games. Many teams from the Asian region will fight to honor their country. A League of Legends tournament is planned to be held, which will also include representatives from the Chinese league LPL and the Korean league LCK. Depending on the status of the Omicron variant, the 2022 Asian Games may be postponed to next year.
