Sony wants to add ads to Playstation games. After the announcement for Xbox, Sony also stated that they are working on some systems.





Shortly after two Microsoft employees announced their plans to add ads to Xbox games, Sony did not wait for their explanations. Sony wants to add ads to Playstation games. According to the statements made to Business Insider, Sony, which targets free-to-play games like Microsoft, thinks that game makers will have higher revenues thanks to this method.

Japan-based Playstation's in-game advertising system is expected to appear by the end of 2022.

How to add ads to Playstation games?

Sony, like the US game console maker Xbox, plans to allow ads integrated into the game world in the form of digital billboards. In addition, Sony stated that they want to add video ads that we know from mobile games. Accordingly, Playstation plans to reward its players with various items and skins per ad watched.

Sony stated that they have not yet decided whether they will receive a share of the revenues from the advertising revenues, but that the advertisers will charge a fee for the data they collect.

Sony's more detailed explanations and implementation plans by the end of 2022 created a competitive environment to rush Microsoft, which is still in the research and planning stages. Sony will thus create an option on its own platform for free-to-play game developers who will turn to Xbox parties with the appeal of advertisements.
